In the 1960s most of the local newspapers and many of the national publications had rugby league writers on their staff. A number of rugby league magazines also appeared, Rugby League Magazine was one of those magazines. The publisher of this quarterly magazine was A.N. Gaulton, a Huddersfield based rugby league journalist. The Rugby League Magazine covered all aspects of the sport and in a time when attendances at professional games were declining always tried to project a positive image of the sport.
I have chosen three different articles from a 1963 edition of the magazine.
